Disneyland Magic Key Pass - Everything you need to know (2023)

Want to experience the magic of Disneyland Resort all year round? Then a Magic Key Pass could be just the thing for you!

Magic Key Passes replaced the Disneyland Annual Pass program in 2021. There are four tiers of Magic Key Passes with different benefits, so you can choose the one that best suits your lifestyle and budget.

Current Magic Key Pass holders can renew their passes as long as they are within 30 days of the pass expiration date.

What is the Magic Key Pass?

The Magic Key Pass is the evolution of the Disneyland Resort Annual Pass. Disney reports that Magic Key's offerings have been largely informed by "extensive consumer research and guest feedback."

There are four tiers in the Magic Key program and most of the benefits are very similar to the old Annual Pass program. The main difference is that Magic Key holders are now required to make theme park reservations in advance.

Magic Key Pass holders also receive additional perks such as up to 15% off select restaurants, up to 20% off select merchandise, access to Magic Key Terrace at Disney California Adventure, and occasional special offers only for pass holders.

A big difference between the old Disneyland Annual Pass and the new Magic Key Pass is that there are no longer physical passes. You will receive a digital pass in the Disneyland app. This can lead to stress if you have to give up your phone to get a dinner discount or if your cell service is down!

There are two possible solutions to this: 1) You can try your luck by requesting a physical paper magic key badge at the Disneyland ticket office. The cost is $20. I've heard varying degrees of success with this; However, the fine print of the Magic Key still says it's an option.

The second option, 2) You can tryPrint your Magic Key barcode and stick it on your old plastic Disneyland pass🇧🇷 I tried this and found that some performers wouldn't accept it, especially the front door CMs. Your mileage can vary with this trick.

What are the different Magic Key Pass options and prices?

There are four different tiers of Magic Key Passes: Inspire, Believe, Enchant, and Imagine. Inspire is the most expensive pass and offers the most benefits. Imagine is the cheapest and only available to Southern California residents.

*NOTE: Currently all Magic Keys are closed to new sales. Current Magic Key holders will be able to renew their passes starting August 18, 2022.

All four passes are valid for one year from the first date of use, and California residents are eligible for a monthly payment plan.

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park were closed from March 2020 to April 2021 due toPandemic of Covid-1🇧🇷 While the parks were closed,Disneyland has ended its annual long-stay pass programand current refunded passport holders.

In August 2021, Disneyland introduced Magic Key passes, the replacement for the annual pass. Magic Key Passes work similarly to the old Annual Passes, but the benefits are slightly different. For one, Magic Key pass holders are now required to make reservations before visiting the theme park.

What happens when you become the keeper of a magic key?

In addition to access to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure (with prior parking reservation), Disneyland Magic Key holders are entitled to special benefits such as free or discounted parking (depending on Magic Key type) and discounts on food and merchandise.

There are also occasional special offers for Magic Key holders, such as Magic Key Corner during certain festivals and Magic Key Appreciation Month, which took place in February 2022 and is expected to return in 2023.

Are Magic Key Passes worth it?

You may be wondering if buying a magic key could be a good option for you! It all depends on how often you visit Disneyland Resort.

If you live in Southern California and like to visit Disneyland during the week and don't necessarily want to visit on weekends or holidays, Imagine Key could be a good value for you considering it costs $449, the current one Price of $169 a Park Hopper Tier 0 day pass. If you visit more than 3 times a year, Imagine Key offers excellent value for money!

Another example, suppose you want the dream key as soon as it is on sale. Dream Key costs $1599 with no block days, meaning you can visit on weekends and holidays as long as you book in advance. Compare that to the current price of $244 for a one-day Tier 6 Park Hopper ticket. If you stop by more than 7 times a year, your dream key is great value!

Frequently asked questions about the Disneyland Magic Key Passes program

Is it true that Magic Key holders cannot renew the pass?

Not true, but next year's passports will be slightly different.

The Dream Key will be discontinued and replaced by the Inspire Key, which will be locked for the last two weeks of the year.

Renewals for current key holders are available. You can renew your pass once you are within 30 days of your pass expiration date. If you let your pass expire, you CANNOT renew it or buy a new one!

When will Magic Key Passes go on sale again?

Unfortunately we don't know. Disney has stopped selling all Magic Key passes and hasn't announced when they will go on sale again. Current Magic Key holders can renew their passes once they are within the 30-day expiration window (30 days prior to the expiration date).

Can Magic Key holders enter the park?

Yes! All four Magic Key passes include park hopping. However, when making theme park reservations, you must select an initial park. You can only visit your departure park until 1:00 p.m. After 1:00 PM, you are free to hop between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

Where to buy a Magic Key Pass?

You cannot currently purchase a Magic Key, but current Magic Key holders can renew within their 30-day renewal window in the app.

Can Magic Key Passes sell out?

Yes. The fine print states that Disneyland may stop selling new Magic Key passes at any time. In October 2021, Dream Key ceased sales, followed by Believe Key sales in November 2021. Enchant and Imagine sold out in Spring 2022.

Are monthly payments possible?

Yes! Monthly payments are available for all pass types, but only for California residents. A deposit of $179 is required, so the monthly payments are as follows:

Inspire Key – $133.25/month
Believe Key – 91,59 $/Monat
Enchantment Key - $58.25/month
Imagine Key: $37.42/month (Southern California residents only)

Please note that these prices will likely increase as Magic Keys become available for future purchases.

If you have two Believe Key Pass holders in one car, is parking free?

Do not. Receive 50% off parking with the Believe Key Pass, regardless of how many pass holders are in the car. But good try!

How are reservations made?

Magic Key Pass holders can make reservations for as many days as their pass type allows. For example, an Inspire Key pass holder can have 6 parking reservations at a time. If the pass holder uses or cancels one of the reservations, they can make another one. There is no limit to the total number of days a pass holder can visit the parks, but advance reservations must be made.

How far in advance can reservations be made?

The Magic Key Pass parking reservation window is 90 days in advance.

Can a reservation be cancelled?

Yes! You can cancel a reservation until 11:59 p.m. m. (Pacific Time) the night before.

What happens if you don't show up for your booking?

Directly from the Disneyland website: "Magic Key holders who fail to show up for 3 reservations in a 90-day period will not be able to make new park reservations for 30 days. Existing reservations at the park at this time will not be cancelled. The 30-day period begins the day after the third "no-show" and continues even if the pass is upgraded to another pass during that period."

Does the Magic Key program apply to Walt Disney World?

The Magic Key program applies to Disneyland only. Walt Disney World has its own annual pass program.
